Electric Light Orchestra Ii
Recorded at Long Beach Auditorium on May 12, 1974, 's was a limited release in a handful of countries in the mid-'70s. The show was unusually raw and spirited, and the resulting performance is ferocious, like little else the band ever delivered. The material is all rooted in the group's first three albums. 'Daybreaker,” 'Showdown,' and 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' are juxtaposed with '10538 Overture' and robust covers of 'Day Tripper,' 'Orange Blossom Special' (with a solo violin spot), and 'Great Balls of Fire,' with the band's version of 'Roll Over Beethoven' as the finale. Canon k10356 software. The album pre-dates 's emergence as a major international act by perhaps a year, and captures them playing the material upon which their basic sound was formed and cast.

's sinewy guitar playing, in particular, is extraordinary and 's lunatic rolls and fills on 'Roll Over Beethoven' might've made even a little dizzy. The band also manages to have fun with their own history, while anticipating their future, integrating a quotation from what was then exclusively a song, 'Do Ya,' into their version of '10538 Overture.' It makes the song and the album.
Similar to Genesis in the sense that for some unknown reason it has never been 'cool' to listen to E.L.O.??? I don't understand why?!! Like bands such as the Beatles, Queen they have written some of the catchiest tracks going, everyone for some unknown reason seems to know the words to every song!! No band better represents the pros and cons of overproduction than ELO. In an era of excess, ELO had no equal for sheer audio opulence.
Singer Jeff Lynne frosted his voice in so many coatings of studio sugar that it hardly sounded natural. Singing at the helium-huffing apex of the human voice, he dusted off notes not heard since cherubs gamboled in mythological clouds. Bringing in entire symphonies for heart-fluttering arpeggios on fairy-dusted strings, the band's songs fill the air like mirage waves of sound so glossy, you can almost see your reflection in them.
'Can't Get It Out of My Head' and 'Telephone Line' roll gently along like long, lonesome walks on the beach while the Disco/rock hybrids 'Turn to Stone' and 'Livin' Thing' still set the mood for fans working on their night moves. It's just physiologically impossible not to get high from inhaling so much production varnish. For some, it will cause euphoria - for others, altitude sickness.
Jeff Lynne Rarities Include ELO Album With George Harrison and Ringo (A Top Story). On Wednesday Jeff Lynne Rarities Include ELO Album With George Harrison and Ringo was a top story. Here is the recap: (Gibson) A number of rare Electric Light Orchestra and Jeff Lynne recordings have found a new home on Frontiers Records, the label that recently released new albums by both Lynne and his most famous musical endeavor, ELO. The releases are ELO's Zoom, a 2001 release which has been unavailable for over ten years and which features appearances by Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr; Lynne's 1990 solo debut Armchair Theatre (Harrison shows up there too); and Electric Live Orchestra Live, which chronicles the first date of the Zoom tour at Los Angeles' CBS Television City, originally released as a DVD. Each release includes additional tracks, with Live really upping the ante with four tracks that weren't on the original DVD release as well as two new unreleased studio tracks, 'Out of Luck' and 'Cold Feet.' - is an official news provider for the antiMusic.com.
